Art Alliance Austin hosted the 65th annual Art City Austin festival this past weekend featuring beautiful, unique and strange art on the banks of the Colorado River. As Austin’s premiere arts festival and outdoor marketplace, more than 100 esteemed artists were accessible by the public. Located on Cesar Chavez between Lamar and Guadalupe, the event was packed with talent, but stand-outs included mixed medium collage projects by Dolan Geiman; gorgeous stone garden art by California artist Casey Bridges; carnivalesque paintings by local Austin based artist Jay Long; fine art paintings by Jude Bischoff; and surreal, bizarre and completely original sculptures by El Paso based artist Ho Baron.
This year’s event also featured curated food trucks, craft beer, cocktails, live music and children’s craft and interactive areas. Entrance fees were $10 for people 12 and up, but also available was a $75 VIP Collectors Lounge Ticket option; that provided the purchaser unlimited food and drink in the lounge, a special gift bag and a fantastic view of the KUTX/Black Fret Music Stage.
